Pediatric Nursing Skills

  • Taking vital signs
  • Bathing
  • Providing mouth care
  • Feeding
  • Weighing
  • Neuro Vital Signs
  • Safety Precautions
  • Position for procedures
  • Administering IVPB medications
  • IV Regulation and Care
  • Medication Preparation and Administration
  • Weighing diapers
  • Urine Collection
  • Stool testing
  • Isolation Techniques
  • NG/GT Feedings
  • and any other skills you have already learned

Ob Nursing  Skills

  • Take OB History
  • Calculate EDC
  • Vital Signs
  • Weigh client
  • Check Urine for Protein/Glucose
  • Check Deep Tendon Reflexes
  • Check Clonus
  • Perform Leopold’s Maneuvers
  • Measure Fundal Height
  • Listen to Fetal Heart Tones
  • Breastfeeding Position & Education
  • Safety
  • And any other skills you have learned before

In addition to the skills listed above, you are required to know how you can assist in the following:

  • Ultrasound
  • Amniocentesis
  • Nitrazine Test/ Fern Test
  • Non – Stress Test

Well, I hope I listed them all. ( My gut is telling me I am forgetting some… :-/)

    Hi I’m starting ob and peds tomorrow and I’m so incredibly nervous. I heard poor reviews about the professor and I cannot afford to fail. She doesn’t curve at all and I’m a wife and mother who is still works. help!!!!
